Language In Motion. Event Welsh, Irish, Moldovan.

Cúirt International Festival of Literature – Galway City, Ireland, 21st – 27th April 2015. 

Join us for a special evening of Irish, Welsh and Moldovan work as three of our Cúirt guests speak about their language and how their native tongue influences their work.

Aneirin Karadog

is a poet and performer from Wales. His first collection of poetry O Annwn I Geltia won the poetry category for Wales Book of the Year 2013. In 2006 Aneirin toured Wales together with other talented young poets to promote their poetry collection Crap Ar Farddoni.

He also co-created and performed Bx3, a live poetry show for children, and more recently co-created and performed in Dylan Live, a bilingual performance tracing Dylan Thomas’ trip to New York through jazz, beat poetry, hip-hop, spoken word and film.

Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin

is a poet who was born in London and raised in North Kerry. As well as writing poems and haiku in Irish, he also performs and holds spoken word workshops nationally. He is currently working on an online literary journal and a hip-hop EP with Rob Mulhern.

Liliana Corobca

Born in 1975 in Săseni-Călăraşi, Moldova. She is a writer and researcher. She studied from 1992 to 1997 at the faculty for philology at the State University of Moldova in Chişinău and completed her doctorate in humanistic sciences (Philology) at the University of Bucharest.

She has published three novels: Negrissimo (2003), which won the Moldovan award for best new debut novel of the year as well as the Romanian “Prometheus Award” for the best book debut. Her others include: A year in paradise (2005), and Kinderland (2013).
